Instructions
Parents please take and record all measurements 15 minutes prior to your Virtual Visit. Have the flashlight on hand when Dr. Franz requests it during the visit.
1. Measure the height and weight of your child.
a. For 4 months – 2 year old child: use infant scale. To measure the height
of your child please have them lay down on a measuring mat or smooth surface
paper. Mark where the head is and gently stretch the foot and flex it to 90
degrees – mark where the heel is. Pick up child and measure the length. Be sure
the paper stays smooth as wrinkles can make the height seriously incorrect.
b. For children 2 years old and up: Any toddler that can stand on a scale is
fine for the weight. Heights can be measured by having your child stand with
heels against the wall. Take a piece thin cardboard and put it straight across
the head to the wall and measure height. Position head in slight upward pose –
often referred to as the “sniff position”.
2. For children 2 years and older make sure that the the blood pressure
instrument you are using has the pediatric attachment installed.
3. Take the circumference of the head for children 4 months – 2 years old. Using
the soft measuring tape determine the fattest part of the head around the
forehead.
4. Heart Rate – take for one full minute with stethoscope or use digital BP machine
to get heart rate.
5. Respiratory Rate – take for one full minute – you may count breaths or listen
with stethoscope.
6. Thermometer – take temperature
